Multiple organizations from Red Wing, Goodhue County and the state conducted a nuclear plant emergency drill Tuesday.
It’s something done every two years “as a way of updating processes and issues that may have developed,” city emergency management director Roger Hand said after the drill.
Representatives from area organizations — including Red Wing School District, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, Prairie Island Indian Community, Xcel Energy, Red Wing Police, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office and others — gathered at the Emergency Operations Center in Red Wing at about 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
They went through the processes they would follow if there really was a nuclear emergency. In coming weeks, recommendations from representatives and activity logs kept by them will be evaluated, Hand said.
“It went very well,” Hand said of the drill.
