Following heavy rain and hail on Wednesday May 2, rural Lake City residents ended up having their newly remodeled basement entirely destroyed.

Daniel and Diane Richardson found large amounts of water, hail and debris rushing into their basement, destroying a washer, dryer, refrigerator, furnace, water heater, bedroom, family room and two freezers. The Richardsons are not covered by insurance from the flooding.

To help them in recovering from their losses, a relief fund has been established. Anyone wishing to donate can make checks payable to Daniel and Diane Richardson, designate it as money for the relief fund and mail it to Lake City Federal Savings and Loan, 201 Marion St. E., Lake City, MN 55041.
