Kelsey Mcfarland went 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and three runs scored for New Prague Friday as Red Wing remained winless after a 5-3 loss in New Prague.
“We shut her down the last time we played,” Red Wing head coach Cheryl Borgen said. “This time we not only let her on, we let her run.”
Laura Chalmers pitched all six innings for the Wingers (0-13, 0-11 Missota), allowing four earned runs on seven hits and four walks. Elle Anderson was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Hailee Johnson went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Kelsey Reding finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and continues to play stellar defense for Red Wing, Borgen said.
“Kelsey Reding has just been dynamite at second base,” she said. “She’s really improved her defensive skills.”
Amber Hoffman was the winning pitcher for the Trojans (7-8, 4-6 Missota), throwing a complete game with five walks and six strikeouts. New Prague tallied seven hits but four came in the first inning.
The Wingers play in the Apple Valley Invitational Saturday.
