Red Wing child molester gets 40 years in prison

A Red Wing man was sentenced to 40 years in prison Friday for sexually abusing three girls multiple times who were 3, 4 and 6 years old at the time.

Simon Christopher Mueller, 27, will serve 160 months consecutively for three of his first-degree criminal sexual conduct convictions.

As per state statute, Mueller, 28029 Gadient Lane, will serve two-thirds — or about 27 years — behind bars and the last third on supervised release.

Mueller was originally charged with six counts of first-degree and six counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct in May 2011. A second complaint filed last November added three first-degree and two second-degree charges.

He was convicted on all but two first-degree charges after a week-long court trial in February presided over by First District Court Judge Kevin Mark.
