Minnesota musical talent Lorie Line comes to the Zumbrota State Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday May 11 as part of her intimate concert series. The theme, “Live in the Sunshine,” plays off of a hymn from her new release, “The Heritage Collection, Volume Six.”
This two-hour show will highlight music from three new albums over the past two years and feature world-class and renowned musicians such as Peter Ostroushko on fiddle/mandolin; Kirk Johnson (Prince's drummer and choreographer for years) on drums; and three fun and entertaining young musicians who are new to her stage. Line refers to her band as the “Fab Five” and says they’re a “terrific entourage.”
“Surrounding myself with the best players possible makes making music so much more fun, and after touring all these years, I know how important that is,” she said. “I'm now doing it these days to have fun.”
Line has been touring 23 years. Known mainly for her holiday extravaganza, she has branched out these past six years and developed her intimate series. This year's show will highlight music from her all-original album “Serendipity.” This tour runs May, June and July.
Her CDs have sold more than 6 million copies. She’s the owner of one of the largest independent record labels, Lorie Line Music. She’s published 28 books of music so others can play her arrangements of popular pieces as well as her original works.
Line and her husband/tour manager, Tim Line, live in Oronoco, Minn.
