Track: Red Wing boys and girls finish first

The Red Wing girls track team took first place Thursday at Lake City.
The Wingers scored a 159 to win the meet, with Lake City in second place, Cannon Falls taking fourth and Zumbrota-Mazeppa sixth.
The meet was cancelled with four events remaining due to lightning.
Emily Stegora won three events for Red Wing: the 100-meter hurdles, 300 hurdles and triple jump. Maggie Jonas took first in both the discus throw and the shot put. Macy Kelly was second in the shot put and third in the discus throw.
The Wingers 4x800-meter relay team of McKenzie Muelken, Morgan Lyons, Kianna Stewart and Julia Hofer won in 10 minutes, 36.30 seconds and Meta Buck finished first in the 100 dash. Lake City’s Shannon Ting and Haley Vaith came in second and third, respectively.
“The sprinters really showed up and had a break out meet for us,” Red Wing head girls track coach Jesse Nelson said. “Lake City has great sprinters. We were really happy with our times. I feel good about that going into our section meet.”
The Wingers came in second place in the 4x200 and the 4x100, with the Tigers winning both.
Lake City’s Bailey Bronin ran the 400 dash in 1:01.17 for first place and Abbey Schnaith came in second at 1:01.67 for the Wingers.
Emi Trost won the 1,600 run in 5:06 for Cannon Falls and Red Wing’s Kelsee Anderson took second. Eilise Leise, Lindsay Scribner and Amy Nemanich finished third, fourth and fifth for the Wingers.
In the pole vault, Kristine Novak finished first for the Tigers, Sveta Mason was second for Cannon Falls and Morgan Lyons came in third for Red Wing.
At 15 feet, 4.5 inches, Lake City’s Brandy White won the long jump and Colleen Owen, of Z-M, was third.
Cannon Falls’ Mada Hofstedt took second in the triple jump and Z-M’s Maddie Lindhart was second in the discus throw.
The Wingers host a True Team invitational Tuesday at Red Wing High School.

The Wingers finished with a 141.5 for the top spot, with Hastings in second place at 73.5. Cannon Falls was fourth, Zumbrota-Mazeppa ended in fifth and Lake City came in sixth place.
Lightning cut the meet short by four events.
Red Wing won the 4x200-meter relay and Jonny Banks took first in the triple jump.
Will Rutter won the 110 hurdles for Cannon Falls and Paul Hernke was first in the 400 dash in 51.38 seconds.
Z-M’s Nathan Warneke took first in the 1,600 in 4 minutes, 36.51 seconds, Red Wing’s Aiden Winn came in second place and Lake City’s Carston Dammann finished third.
Chase Jacobsen, of Cannon Falls, and Teagan Olin, of Red Wing, tied for first in the pole vault. The Tigers’ Colten Kruempel was first in the discus throw and the Wingers’ Nick Connelly took second.
Red Wing grabbed both first and second place in the shot put, with Tanner Kruger in first and Ryan Parr finishing runner-up.
Z-M’s Lucas Ziemba was second in the long jump and Andre Page was second for the Wingers in the 100 dash.
