Baseball: Lake City stretches win streak to five games

Lake City won its fifth consecutive game Thursday with a 13-6 victory over Rochester Lourdes in Rochester.

Lake City won its fifth consecutive game Thursday with a 13-6 victory over Rochester Lourdes in Rochester.

The Tigers (8-3, 6-1 HVL) kept pace in the conference race, which featured five teams with two losses prior to Thursday’s games.

Lake City came back from a 3-1 deficit in the second inning with a nine-run rally to take a 10-3 lead. The Eagles made errors on sacrifice bunts, which allowed the Tigers to take advantage. Elliot Cox went 2-for-2 with three RBI while Austen Poss drove in two runs with a 3-for-4 performance. Logan Thomas went 2-for-4 and Jake Griebenow finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Ben Schramski got the win for Lake City despite struggling with his control. Schramski threw three innings, gave up six runs, four earned, on three hits. He walked eight and struck out three.

The Tigers face Zumbrota-Mazeppa Friday in Lake City.
