Girls Golf: Toivonen shoots career low as Red Wing takes Chaska Invite

Marisa Toivonen shot a career-low even par 72 Wednesday as Red Wing took first place at the Chaska Invitational played at Dahlgreen Golf Club in Chaska.

Marisa Toivonen shot a career-low even par 72 Wednesday as Red Wing took first place at the Chaska Invitational played at Dahlgreen Golf Club in Chaska.

Toivonen, a senior, was co-medalist.

The Wingers finished with a season-low 315, New Prague was second at 318 and Northfield took third place with a 339.

Senior Katie Kesti shot a 77, sophomore Nicole Schammel finished with an 81 and junior Maddie Flack had an 85. Seventh-grader Stephanie Herzog tallied an 86 and ninth-grader Reagan Haley notched a 95.

β€œIt was a great day for the girls,” Red Wing head coach Mark Herzog said. β€œ(Marisa) and Katie played really well. Along with Nicole Schammel, they gave us three really great scores.”

Red Wing plays again Thursday at Willingers Golf Club in Northfield.
