Bank reports attempted fraud; warning issued
A Red Wing bank stopped a fraud that would have cost an elderly woman more than $100,000.
A Red Wing bank stopped a fraud that would have cost an elderly woman more than $100,000. Police said a suspect went into Associated Bank and tried to withdraw the balance in the 84-year-old woman's savings account. The bank's security stopped the transaction and the woman did not lose any money. "We just want to get the word out that the elderly are a frequent target for scams," Capt. Darold Glander said.
