Ashlyn Stecklein’s RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning completed Goodhue’s comeback Monday in a 5-4 victory over La Crescent in Goodhue.
The Wildcats (4-6, 2-6 HVL) trailed 4-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before pushing two runs across to make it 4-2.
Emilee Roschen led off the sixth inning with a single and came around to score on a Sharece Hahn triple. Lexie Kennedy followed with an RBI single to tie the game. Paige Gadient reached on a fielder’s choice and scored from first base on Stecklein’s double to give Goodhue its fourth win in five games.
“It’s nice to come back and win a game like this,” Wildcats head coach Chris Irvin said.
Stecklein finished 2-for-4 with an RBI while Meredith Watson went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Kennedy finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Hahn went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Roschen threw all seven innings and gave up four runs on nine hits, struck out two and walked one. Roschen also went 2-for-3 with a run.
Goodhue will face seventh-ranked (2A) Rochester Lourdes Thursday in Rochester.
