Four students from Goodhue will compete at the national Family, Career and Community Leaders of America competition in Florida this July. Emily Ryan, Ethan Dressen, Tiffanie Anderson and Kayla Bork earned their places at the national level after attending the state competition last weekend in Bloomington.

Three Goodhue students were also elected as officers at the meeting. Dressen was elected state vice president of resource and development for the upcoming school year. Anderson will serve as the region 1 vice president. Marlee Berg will be a member of the state peer education team. In these roles, the students will have opportunities to strengthen their leadership skills.

In addition to competition, the state FCCLA meeting provided workshops for students and advisors in the areas of leadership, career exploration, preparing for college, youth violence prevention, traffic safety and current issues. FCCLA is a national student organization that helps youths become leaders and addresses personal, family, work and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education.
