Lake City completed a 5-4 comeback victory with four runs in the seventh inning against Zumbrota-Mazeppa Thursday in Zumbrota.

Junior Jake Griebenow came through with a two-out, two-RBI single for the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh inning after the Cougars (2-6, 2-3 HVL) got a strikeout for the third out of the inning but allowed the runner to reach base because the ball got away from catcher.

“Lots of things went wrong,” Z-M head coach Chuck Ohm said. “The inning started with an error and it just goes downhill from there.”

Junior Kevin Niebuhr started on the mound for the Cougars, pitching 6 1/3 innings and allowing two earned runs on six hits and four walks. He struck out six. Senior Zach VanOstrand went 2-for-4 with an RBI and junior Cody Krueger was 1-for-3 with three RBI in the loss.

Lake City (6-3, 6-2 HVL) got a complete game pitching performance from sophomore Reid Lundell. He allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three. Junior Ben Schramski and sophomore Elliot Cox both finished 2-for-3 to lead the Tigers.

Z-M plays at Kenyon-Wanamingo Monday and Lake City hosts the Lake City Invitational Saturday.
