Second-ranked Zumbrota-Mazeppa cruised to another shutout victory Thursday in a 10-0 win in six innings against Triton in Dodge Center to remain unbeaten.
Junior Amber Jentsch was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI to lead the Cougars (11-0, 8-0 HVL). Senior Nasha Reuter went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored while senior Alex Weber was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the win.
Senior Megan Nelson pitched the first three innings for Z-M, allowing two hits, two walks and striking out two. Sophomore Carley Henning finished the final three innings with two hits allowed, two walks and three strikeouts.
Haley Staffon threw all six innings for the Cobras, giving up four earned runs on 10 hits and one walk. She struck out four.
Triton had four different players tally a hit in the game and committed five errors.
The Cougars will participate in the North St. Paul Tourney Friday and Saturday. They play Eagan Friday at 8:15 p.m. at McKnight Field in North St. Paul.
