ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received at the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, Red Wing, Minnesota until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 23rd day of May, 2012, at which time they will be publicly opened and read. After tabulation, the bids and the responsibility of the bidders will be considered by the City Council at 7:00 PM on May 29, 2012 in the council chambers of the City Hall for the furnishing of all labor, tools, materials, equipment and all else necessary for the construction of storm sewer, aggregate base, concrete curb & gutter, sidewalks, bituminous pavement, and other appurtenant construction on Cannon Bottom Road, Moundview Drive, and South Service Drive, (Project No. 156-MP-12-01S) Burnside Street Improvements located in the City of Red Wing, Minnesota, consisting of the following approximate quantities:

2,089 Linear Feet-Remove Concrete Curb & Gutter

821 Square Yard-Remove Concrete Pavement

1,874 Square Yards-Remove Bituminous Pavement

662 Cubic Yards-Topsoil Borrow

250 Tons-Stabilizing Aggregate (Modified)

27.1 Road Stations-Subgrade Preparation

3,250 Tons-Aggregate Base, Cl.5

1,904 Tons-Bituminous Pavement

2 Each-Storm Sewer Structures

10,561 Square Feet-4” & 6” Concrete Walk

All in accordance with specifications on file at the City Engineering Department, 229 Tyler Road North, Red Wing, MN. Plans, Specifications, bid forms, and general instructions for bidders may be examined at the Office of the City Engineer. Complete sets of Plans and Proposals (bidding documents) will be available for downloading on April 30, 2012 from the City of Red Wing website at http://www.red-wing.org and by clicking on the “Quick Links” then “Project & Equipment Bids” for QuestCDN Project 2009644. There is a nonrefundable fee of $20.00 for the electronic Plans and Bidding Documents. Registered plan holders with QuestCDN may obtain a 22”X34” set of plans at City Engineering Department, 229 Tyler Road North, Red Wing, MN 55066 for a nonrefundable fee of $50.00 (please request 24 hours in advance).

Bids must be on the basis of cash payment for the work and material, and no bid will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk at City Hall, 315 West Fourth Street, Red Wing, MN, and accompanied by a cash deposit, certified check or bidder's bond payable to the City of Red Wing, for not less than five (5) percent of the bid, as a guarantee that the bidder will, if awarded the contract, enter promptly into an agreement with the City and furnish a performance bond for the full amount of the contract and a payment bond for the full amount of the contract as provided by law. The deposit will be subject to forfeiture as provided by law.

Cash deposits, certified checks and bidder's bonds of the three lowest bidders may be retained until the contract has been awarded and executed, but no longer than thirty (30) days from the date of opening bids. All other deposits will be returned promptly.

The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality therein and to adjourn the meeting to a later date for the purpose of further consideration of the bids and taking action thereon. No bid may be withdrawn within thirty (30) days from the date of opening of bids.
