Track: Cannon Falls wins home meet

The Cannon Falls boys and girls track and field teams won their home meet Tuesday with 766 points.

The Cannon Falls boys and girls track and field teams won their home meet Tuesday with 766 points.

The meet was scored using the True Team format, which allowed teams to have five individual entries and two relays. Pine Island took second with 527 points and Zumbrota-Mazeppa finished third with 259.

The 4x100-meter, 4x400 and the 4x800 relays for the Bombers won while they added wins in the pole vault, 200, 800, 1,600, 3,200, long jump and discus.

Cannon Falls captured the top five spots in the 800 with Katherine Hoffman winning in 2 minutes, 46.13 seconds. Melissa Pranke took second, Amber Edwards third, Maria Jensen fourth and Cara Edwards fifth.

Emi Trost won the 1,600 in 5:23.34, more than a minute faster than teammate Caroline Bowen, who took second. Trost won the 3,200 by nearly two minutes in 12:18.78, a full second faster than her seed time.

The 4x100 relay of Kelsie Beissel, Sarah Modrak, Grace Rutter, Alli Hanson won in 54.98 while 4x400 relay of Mason, Melanie Schwitters, Danielle Hanson and Emma Thomley won in 4:26.97 and the 4x800 relay team of Hoffman, Edwards, Caroline Bowen and Pranke won in 11:03.71.

Sveta Mason won the pole vault, clearing 9 feet, 7 inches. Amanda Anderson took second by clearing 8-0. Thomley won the long jump, going 14-9 1/2. Allison Egge took first in the discus 99-05 and Grace Rutter won the 200 in 28.53.

Colleen Owen took second in the 200 in 28.55 for the Cougars whle Emily Smith took third in the 1,600 for Z-M in 6:50.66. Emma Gunhus took second in the high jump, going 4-2 and Owen took second in the long jump with a jump of 14-5 1/4. Maddie Lindhart won the shot put with a throw of 31-7.

Safe wins two field events for Cannon Falls boys

Dustin Safe won the shot put and discus for the Cannon Falls boys team as it won with 672 points, edging out Pine Island, which scored 664 points. Zumbrota-Mazeppa finished third with 402 points.

Safe had a throw of 41-1 in the shot put to win and a throw of 114-3 in the discus to win.

Bryan Anderson and Beau Rueger finished 1-2 in the triple jump. Anderson won with a jump of 37-11 and Rueger went 35-4.

Zach Stiehl and Colton Sande tied for first in the high jump.

The 4x400 relay team of Paul Hernke, Alex Bultena, Safe and Connor Bennett won in 3:43.98 and the 4x100 relay team of Zach Holes, Bennett, Bultena and Rueger won in 47.95.
