Junior Mackenzie Diercks struck out 10 in five innings Tuesday in Ellsworth’s 7-1 victory against Saint Croix Central in Hammond, Wis.

Diercks allowed just one unearned run on one hit and two walks for the Panthers (6-1, 4-1 Middle Border). It was Diercks first start this season on the mound after missing all of last year.

“She looked good,” Ellsworth head coach Ryan Casper said. “I’m just trying to work her back slowly. She’s chomping at the bit. She tired out in the fifth.”

Senior Mariah Diercks was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Panthers and ninth-grader Jenna George went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the win.

Heidi Feyerheisen finished 1-for-2 with an RBI for Saint Croix Central (4-4, 2-3 Dunn-St. Croix). Saint Croix Central made five errors in the game.

Ellsworth faces Prescott Thursday in Ellsworth.
