Pepin-Alma needed a three-run sixth inning Monday to beat Mondovi 7-5 in Alma.
The third-ranked Eagles (6-1, 5-0 Dunn-St. Croix) had a 4-2 lead until Mondovi tied it in the top of the fifth.
Cori Terpstra went 3-for-3 with an RBI for Pepin-Alma while Breanna Ellison and Micky Dusek each went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
“We were pretty lucky to get out of there with a win,” Eagles head coach Matt Bellerive said.
Sophomore outfielder Allie Laehn saved the game for Pepin-Alma in the fifth inning when she caught a fly ball heading over the fence with the bases loaded. Her momentum sent her over the fence and two runs scored while she recovered from the fall, but the catch prevented Mondovi from taking the lead.
Ellison came on in relief of Dusek, who started the game, and got the win. Ellison struck out seven in three innings, gave up one unearned run on one hit.
The Eagles face off with conference co-leader Elk Mound Tuesday in Elk Mound. Both teams have undefeated records in the conference.
