Track: Trost wins distance events at Cannon Falls Invite

Emi Trost won the 1,600 meters and the 3,200 Saturday at the Cannon Falls Invitational.

Emi Trost won the 1,600 meters and the 3,200 Saturday at the Cannon Falls Invitational.

Trost won the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 22 seconds, 26 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Trost won the 3,200 in 12:19.98, a margin of nearly 10 seconds.

The Bombers finished in fourth place with 78.5 points. St. Croix Lutheran won the meet with 214.3, Tri City United took second with 144.5 and Two Harbors finished third with 112.6 at the seven-team meet.

The 4x100 relay team of Kelsie Beiseel, Madasyn Hofstedt, Grace Rutter and Alli Hanson finished in 54.63 seconds to claim third place.

The 4x400 relay team of Sveta Mason, Melanie Schwitters, Danielle Hanson and Emma Thomley took third in 4:26.88.

Mason won the pole vault by clearing 9 feet, 6 inches.

Allison Egge took third in the discus with a throw of 99-10 1/2.

Boys take fifth

Nic Van Watermeulen won the pole vault by going over 12 feet for Cannon Falls and Paul Hernke finished second in the 400 with a time of 52.84 seconds, just three tenths of a second behind winner, Joe Werz of St. Croix Lutheran.

Connor Bennett took third in the 100 in 12.12 and Will Rutter took fifth in the 110 hurdles in 17.57.

The 4x400 relay team of Hernke, Alex Bultena, Bennett and Dustin Safe finished third in 3:47.39.

The Bombers placed fifth as a team with 56.5 points. St. Croix Lutheran finished second with 190.5 points and Tri City United took third with 97 points.
