The Red Wing girls golf team wasn’t content with its performance Monday in a Missota Conference meet but the Wingers still took first place out of eight teams at the Fountain Valley Golf Course in Farmington.

Senior Katie Kesti finished fourth individually with a 79 and Red Wing won the meet with a 333, just ahead of New Prague with a 335.

“Katie struck the ball much more solidly today,” Red Wing head coach Mark Herzog said. “I was really happy with how they played.”

Chanhassen’s Brenna Lervick medaled with the day’s low-score of 72.

Marisa Toivonen, a senior, finished in fifth place for the Wingers with an 80 while sophomore Nicole Schammel and seventh-grader Stephanie Herzog both shot an 87. Ninth-grader Reagan Haley had a 91 and junior Maddie Flack contributed a 96.

“It was good day for us,” Mark Herzog said. “333 is a really good score.”

Red Wing heads to the Elk River Invite Tuesday at Elk River Country Club.
