Ramble on ... in the spring

The Studio Ramble traditionally arrived as trees started to turn red, orange and yellow. This year, the event comes as the trees bud and the lilacs and bulbs bloom.
Organizers invite people to experience art, music, chocolate and wine in the beautiful green Mississippi River valley.
“We felt that it would be more exciting to be at the beginning of the art season rather than at the end,” Maggie Paynter said. She is one of the participating artists.
The ramble will be April 28-29. Artists will open their studios from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
“The reason that we decided to shift our art tour to the spring was because we felt that there was always so much going on in the falls months of September and October,” Paynter explained. “Each weekend was always full.”
Studio Ramble will feature more than two dozen artists in 16 studios in and around the Red Wing.
People may tour the studios, meet the artists and see and purchase artwork. The various media include pottery, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, textiles, jewelry, glass, computer imaging, Giclee prints, chocolate and wine.
One of the sites will have live music.
