A lawsuit brought against Red Wing School district alleging racial discrimination will go to trial.
The district and former student Quera Pruitt failed to reach a settlement during a conference Thursday in St. Paul in front of United States District Judge Jeffrey J. Keyes. The meeting lasted four hours.
Pruitt, who is black, alleges that the district violated her rights under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Minnesota Human Rights Act when about 60 students dressed up for the non-school sanctioned “wangster” or “wigger” day during homecoming 2009.
