The errors keep piling up for the Red Wing softball team as the Wingers lost 4-0 to Shakopee Tuesday in Shakopee.
The Wingers (0-4) committed four errors, putting their total to 23 in four games, and surrendered three unearned runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.
“Our pitcher’s job is to generate weak hits but we have to field them,” Red Wing head coach Cheryl Borgen said. “23 errors for us in the four games. That’s unacceptable at the varsity level.”
Junior Laura Chalmers took the loss for the Wingers, pitching six innings and allowing four hits and one earned run. She struck out two. Tesha Buck went 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases.
Shakopee got a complete game shutout from Alex Walker as she walked two and struck out seven. Beatrice Lawson contributed a pinch-hit, two-run single in the sixth inning.
Red Wing hosts Chanhassen Thursday.
