Third-ranked Pepin-Alma cruised past Boyceville Monday 10-0 in six innings courtesy of the long ball.

Breanna Ellison and Tasha Heit each hit home runs to help carry the Eagles (2-0, 2-0 Dunn-St. Croix) to victory. Heit hit a grand slam in the fourth inning and Ellison connected for her second home run in as many games, this time a two-run shot. Ellison finished with three RBI. Kayla Meixner had a 2-for-4 game at the plate and drove in two runs.

Ellison shut down the Bulldogs (2-1, 2-1 Dunn-St. Croix) to hand them their first loss of the season. Boyceville came into the game with a pair of wins where it scored 11 runs in each game.

“I really thought we’d have our hands full with Boyceville,” Pepin-Alma head coach Matt Bellerive said. “They’re a really good hitting team.”

Ellison held the Bulldogs to three hits in six innings, struck out seven and walked none.

The Eagles face St. Croix Central Tuesday in St. Croix.
