Baseball: Miscues hurt Pepin-Alma

Pepin-Alma cut down on its errors, but they still proved costly Monday in a 5-4 loss to St. Croix Central in Pepin.

The Eagles (2-4, 2-3 Dunn-St. Croix) had four miscues in the field and it led to three unearned runs.

St. Croix Central jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the second inning, but Pepin-Alma cut it to 3-2 after Brody Olson and Charlie Raethke delivered RBI base hits in the fourth inning.

St. Croix Central extended the lead to 5-2 in the sixth before the Eagles rallied in the bottom of the seventh for two runs, which came via a balk and a walk.

Cole Carroll finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and Bryce Anibaf went 1-for-1 with a double.

Jacob Lerum took the loss after giving up five runs, two earned, on six hits. Lerum walked four and struck out two in seven innings.

Pepin-Alma faces Plum City Thursday in a doubleheader in Pepin.
