Cannon Falls swept Zumbrota-Mazeppa Saturday in a doubleheader in Cannon Falls.

The Bombers won the first game 11-8 and the second game 1-0 to pick up their third and fourth victories of the season.

Trevor Sullivan hit a three-run homer in the second inning for Cannon Falls (4-1, 4-0 HVL) to help give the Bombers a 7-0 lead.

But the Cougars (0-4, 0-4 HVL) climbed back in it to pull within 7-5 in the top of the third inning. Cannon Falls added two runs in the fourth and the fifth to stay ahead of Z-M.

Cam Adel went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI for the Bombers while Cedric Dicke, Hunter Blakeslee and Michael Growette all had RBI.

Jordan Thompson finished 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Cougars and Sam Edwards drove in two runs.

Dicke picked up the win on the mound, going 4 2/3 innings. Dicke allowed three runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out six.

Zach VanOstrand took the loss after throwing 3 1/3 innings. He allowed eight runs on three hits and walked seven.

In the second game of the doubleheader Dicke drove in the lone run of the game in the top of the first inning when he hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Paul Rolfes, who singled to start the inning.

Noah Callister threw five innings of no-hit ball before being removed by head coach Bucky Lindow because of a high pitch count. Callister finished with nine strikeouts and five walks.

Z-M made it interesting in the seventh inning when it put runners on first and second with two outs. Kevin Niebuhr hit a fly ball to right field and Ian Althoff came up with a running catch to end the game.

The Bombers face seventh-ranked Kenyon-Wanamingo Tuesday in Kenyon while the Cougars will play Orono Monday in Orono.
