The Cannon Falls softball team delivered 18 base hits, 17 of them singles, in a 15-5 five-inning victory against Hayfield Thursday in Cannon Falls.
Senior Megan Ripley pitched all five innings, giving up seven hits, four earned runs and striking out four batters. Ripley also connected on the Bombers (3-2, 2-2 HVL) only extra base hit, going 3-for-4 with a double.
Ninth-grader Ashly Serres was 2-for-3, sophomore Lydia Franken went 2-for-3, senior Amanda Woodward hit 3-for-4 and senior Kayla Anderson was 2-for-3 in the win. Senior Erica Zimmerman was 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored.
“That’s a lot of hits for five innings,” Cannon Falls head coach Mike Gunderson said. “It was one after another.”
Dani Wagner led Hayfield with two hits, both doubles.
The Bombers play in the Tri-City United tournament Saturday in Montgomery.
