Boys Tennis: Lake City grabs 5-2 victory against Faribault

Junior Christian Custer recovered from a 4-1 deficit in the second set and clinched the fourth point in a 5-2 victory for the Lake City boys tennis team Thursday against Faribault in Lake City.
Custer defeated Ryder Ross 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for the Tigers.
“That was the clincher,” Lake City head coach Dave Toole said. “All of the sudden he blazed back. It was a great comeback.”
Junior Riley Forcelle won his match 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and all three Lake City doubles’ teams secured victories for Lake City (1-1). Junior Andrew Schreck and sophomore Alex McCormick defeated Adam Kern and Matt Welborn 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles while sophomore Logan Adler and Brandon Hofschulte eased through their match at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-0. Eighth-graders Matthue Kjos and Brady Kuchinka also breezed by Faribault 6-0, 6-0 in their No. 3 doubles match.
“We played much better today,” Toole said.
The Tigers play Rochester John Marshall Tuesday in Lake City.
