2011-12 All-Area Boys Basketball Honorable Mention
Ryan Boldt, junior, Red Wing, guard
Boldt missed time during the season due to injury but went on to average 8.9 points per game in 18 games this season.
Boldt shot 38 percent from the field, had 2.6 assists per game and 3.5 rebounds per game. Boldt gave the Wingers an additional player who could attack the rim.
Tyson Dicke, junior, Goodhue, forward
Dicke did a lot of the little things for the Wildcats this season and finished with 9.3 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game. Head coach Tony Poncelet called Dicke the team’s “shutdown” defensive player.
Travis Kroll, senior, Ellsworth, guard
Kroll scored 9 points per game from his point guard spot this season for the Panthers and hit 60 percent of his free throws. Kroll earned a spot on the Middle Border second team all-conference team.
Coleman Sweeney, junior, Lake City, guard
Sweeney only scored 5 points per game, but averaged 4.5 assists per game and had a 2-to-1 assist to turnover ratio, which helps explain his worth to the Tigers this season. Sweeney shot 40 percent from the field and had 42 steals.
Noah Callister, junior, Cannon Falls, forward
Callister brought a good mix of an inside-outside game for the Bombers this season and averaged 7 points per game and pulled down 4.76 rebounds per game. Callister shot 42 percent from the field.
His ability to score on the block and stretch defenses with his 3-point shooting ability forces teams to honestly defend him anywhere on the court, Cannon Falls head coach Josh Davisson said.
Jordan Lundell, sophomore, Cannon Falls, guard
Lundell scored 6.7 points per game, 2.55 assists a game and shot 71.9 percent from the free-throw line. Davisson said Lundell was a leader on the court by remaining calm under pressure.
