Baseball: Pepin-Alma dominates Independence/Gilmanton

Pepin-Alma had no trouble with Independence/Gilmanton in a 13-2, five-inning victory to open the season in Alma.

Pepin-Alma had no trouble with Independence/Gilmanton in a 13-2, five-inning victory to open the season in Alma.

Jacob Lerum pitched four effective innings for the victory. Lerum walked two, struck out nine and did not allow a run.

Dylan Bjork went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Kyle Ritscher hit a two-run homer in the third inning. Cole Carroll also finished 3-for-4 with an RBI while Charlie Raethke went 2-for-3 and Brody Olson was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The Eagles tagged Independence/Gilmanton starter Nick Koval for nine runs in the first two innings and added four in the fourth.

Pepin-Alma faces Colfax Thursday in Colfax.
