Community recreation briefs

Youth tennis

Beginning tennis lessons for grades 3–5 will be held Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. beginning April 18 at the Twin Bluff courts. The class meets for five weeks. Players should bring their racquet and something to drink. Cost $25.

Soccer clinic

Coach Dusty Beckman will conduct the spring clinic for grades 2-8 from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday April 21 at the Red Wing High School soccer fields. Cost is $19. Proceeds will benefit the Winger girls soccer team. Bring a ball with your name on it, something to drink and wear sunscreen. Saturday May 5 will be rain date.

Adult golf

Beginning golf lessons for adults are offered by the staff at Mississippi National Wednesday evenings beginning April 18. The class will meet at the driving range from 6 – 7 to p.m. for four weeks. You must provide your own clubs. Cost is $40.

Junior golf

Nate Petric and the staff at Mississippi National will teach ages 9 to 12 Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. The lessons will begin April 18 and run for four weeks. Cost is $40. You must provide your own clubs. Meet at the clubhouse for the first week.

Gymnastics

New sessions of gymnastics classes begin the week of April 9. The Red Wing Gymnastics Association offers classes for youths ages 2 and older and of all abilities. Classes are early evenings or Saturdays at the Red Wing Gymnastics Center. Check out the Community Ed/Rec website for class details.

Tae kwon do

A new session of tae kwon do will begin April 10 and run Tuesdays and Thursdays in the high school’s lower H pod. Beginning students meet at 7 p.m. and advanced students at 8 p.m. Cost for the 12-session class is $40. Uniforms are required.

Kickball league

There will be an organizational kickball league meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday April 11 in high school room J108 (enter door 10). Teams should send a representative. Play will be Wednesday nights at A.P. Anderson Park. The season runs from mid-May through July. Team fee is $225. Teams are coed and you must have a minimum of four women on the field.
