Winger speech team takes third at Hermantown competition

The Red Wing High School speech team took third place overall at a meet Saturday at Hermantown High School. Coach Heather Finholm said that all 31 Red Wing competitors’ scores were calculated into their overall score.

Individually, five students received medals in their respective categories: Maria Pearson (sixth place), Jesse Simonson (fourth), Mandy Gade (sixth), Mikayla Cota (first) and Riley Larson (sixth).

In addition, Megan Graves, Calli Owens, Tia Everett, Lexi Christianson, Tyler Dickerson, Isaac Overlander and Nick Mittelsteadt received honorable mention.

The team will compete in the Section 1AA tournament April 12 at Northfield High School.
