AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS 7 AND 8 OF THE CITY CODE
TO PERMIT PERSONS TO OPERATE SNOWMOBILES ON A LIMITED SECTION OF THE PUBLIC TRAIL KNOWN AS BURNSIDE TRAIL
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RED WING DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1:Chapter 7 of the City Code of the City of Red Wing is hereby amended by deleting the following struck language and adding the following underlined language to the following Paragraph in Section 7.15:
SECTION 7.15.VEHICLES PROHIBITED.
Subd. 1.Motorized Vehicles. Except as expressly permitted in Section 8.07, Subdivision 3, of the City Code, iIt is unlawful for any person to drive or operate a motorized vehicle on any public sidewalk or public property designated for use as a pedestrian walkway, or bicycle trail, except when crossing the same for ingress and egress to private property lying on the other side thereof, and except when driving or operating an Electric Personal Assistive Mobility Device, consistent with the requirements of state law contained in Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 169.212, as it may be amended. For the purposes of this Section, a motorized wheel chair or other motorized mobility aid designed and built primarily for medical purposes used by persons with a bona-fide medical need are not considered motorized vehicles, provided however that such motorized mobility aids must be operated in a manner that doesn’t inhibit the safe usage of the walkway or trail by others.
SECTION 2: Chapter 8 of the City Code of the City of Red Wing is hereby amended by deleting the following struck language and adding the following underlined language to the following Paragraphs in Section 8.07:
SECTION 8.07.SNOWMOBILE REGULATIONS.
Subd. 3.Notwithstanding Subdivision 2, a person may operate a snowmobile on the portion of the public trail known as the Burnside Trail between Motel Avenue on the east to Oak Ridge Drive on the west.

SECTION 3: Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its adoption and publication in accordance with the City Charter.
