Woman dies after motorcycle and car collision
A Hammond, Wis., woman died early Sunday morning after the motorcycle she was riding collided with a pickup truck just after 8 p.m. Saturday on 650th Street in Wisconsin.
A Hammond, Wis., woman died early Sunday morning after the motorcycle she was riding collided with a pickup truck just after 8 p.m. Saturday on 650th Street in Wisconsin.
Julie Nelson, 47, was the passenger on a motorcycle operated by Glen Nelson, 48. The motorcycle was northbound on 650th Street in Martell Township when a southbound pickup truck operated by George Budd, 54, of Beldenville, Wis., tried to make an eastbound turn in the path of the motorcycle.
The vehicles collided and the Nelsons, who were both wearing helmets, were ejected from the motorcycle. They were transported by helicopters to Region’s Hospital in St. Paul with undetermined injuries. Julie Nelson died several hours later. Budd was uninjured.
The accident is under investigation by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol. Assisting at the scene were Ellsworth Area Fire, Ambulance and Paramedics, as well as Mayo One and North Memorial helicopters.
