Kim Larson enters contests and sweepstakes all the time. And she’s won a few times, taking home a couple of laptop computers and a gift card or two.
But none of her past wins can top her most recent grand prize: A Dodge RAM pickup.
“Shock. Very excited,” Larson, a Red Wing resident, said of how she felt when she received an email telling her she had won the vehicle.
The contest Larson entered came from Chamberlain, an Illinois-based manufacturer of garage and commercial door openers, telephone entry systems and other access control products. The pickup giveaway was part of the promotion for their new garage door opener technology.
However, Larson said she didn’t purchase any of Chamberlain’s products before entering her name in the contest. Instead she had just found the contest online and signed up last fall.
An email came in mid-January telling her the pickup was hers, but it wasn’t until Wednesday that she could take it home. Chamberlain executives were on hand to hand Larson the keys at Red Wing Chrysler Dodge.
“It’s been hard to wait,” Larson said.
The new pickup will join Larson and husband Mike’s other two Dodge trucks at home.
“We’re Dodge people,” she said with a laugh.
