Boys Basketball: Goodhue survives opening round scare from Lyle/Pacelli

It wasn’t anything like the 35-point blowout victory Goodhue pulled off earlier in the season against Lyle/Pacelli, but the Wildcats survived a scare Thursday in a 68-63 victory in Goodhue.

It wasn’t anything like the 35-point blowout victory Goodhue pulled off earlier in the season against Lyle/Pacelli, but the Wildcats survived a scare Thursday in a 68-63 victory in Goodhue.

The second-seeded Wildcats (18-8) led 34-18 at halftime but the seventh-seeded Athletics roared back to score 45 points in the second half in the opening round game of the 1A West subsection tournament.

Tyson Dicke led Goodhue with 24 points and had eight steals. Ryan Bigelow added 16 points and four rebounds. Zach Hinsch finished with 11 points.

The Wildcats shot 52 percent from the field and 60 percent from 2-point range.

David Diang led Lyle/Pacelli with 18 points and Skylar Meyer added 12 points.

Goodhue will face Blooming Prairie Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Rochester at the Mayo Civic Arena.
