Wabasha County’s GOP convention Saturday included talks from a number of area lawmakers. Attendees met their new U.S. representative, Congressman John Kline. Redistricting maps released last week showed the 2nd Congressional District will shift to include Wabasha County in 2013.
State Sen. John Howe and Reps. Tim Kelly and Steve Drazkowski spoke to the group about the current legislative session.
Participants reviewed potential resolutions to be added to the Minnesota Republican Party platform and elected delegates for the district and state conventions.
“It was exciting to see many new and younger people wanting to be involved,” Brian Keller, chairman of the Wabasha County Republicans, said.
Those at the convention also saw equipment that could be used to read driver’s licenses should the state adopt a proposed constitutional amendment requiring a photo ID when voting.
