Pepin-Alma clinched a share of the Small Dairyland Conference title Monday with a 53-37 victory over Independence in Alma.

It’s the first conference title for either Pepin or Alma since the 2002-03 season when Alma won the conference title.

Sophia Reidt led the Eagles (14-5, 10-3 Small Dairyland) with 19 points and Ali Murray added 11.

Pepin-Alma trailed 2-0 to start the game, but never trailed after that point en route to its second consecutive win. Reidt scored eight of her 19 points in the first quarter.

“It was two teams that know each other very well,” Eagles head coach Larry Grisen said. “It was a game that had a very intense playoff-feel to it.”

Pepin-Alma led 22-14 at halftime.

The Eagles will face Eleva-Strum Saturday in the Small Dairyland Conference jamboree at 2 p.m. in Melrose-Mindoro before beginning the playoffs March 6 against Brookwood at 7 p.m. in Pepin.
