Girls Basketball: Brunner's 27 help lead Z-M to win

Laura Brunner’s 27 points helped guide fourth-seeded Zumbrota-Mazeppa past fifth-seeded Kingsland 76-50 Friday in Zumbrota to open the 1AA west subsection playoffs.
Brunner hit five 3-pointers in the game and finished 5 of 7 from beyond the arc. The Cougars (14-11) shot 54 percent from the field and finished 8 of 12 from 3. The eight 3-pointers set a season-high for Z-M.
While Brunner was knocking down shots, Ashley Hinsch was dishing out assists. Hinsch delivered a school-record 14 assists and added 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Cougars move on to face top-seeded Pine Island Monday in Rochester at 6 p.m., eager for another shot at the Panthers after a four-point loss back on Jan. 24.
