Ellsworth’s defense kept it close, but its offense couldn’t muster much of anything Thursday in a 46-36 loss to Baldwin-Woodville in Baldwin.
The Panthers (13-8, 8-6 MBC) shot 22 percent from the field, going 8 of 31 from 3-point range and 4 of 24 from 2-point range.
“It was one of the nights where the dang ball would not go down and in,” Ellsworth head coach Cory Brathol said.
The Panthers fell behind when freshman Logan Weyer got going for Baldwin-Woodville in the second quarter. Weyer scored 10 of his 16 points in the quarter and gave Baldwin-Woodville a 19-18 lead at halftime.
Tyler Heitmann added 20 for Baldwin-Woodville (16-6, 11-3 MBC) in the regular season finale.
Chrystian Kulow led Ellsworth with 12 points and Lemoine Steffen scored 10. Jacob Betthauser finished with 12 rebounds.
Baldwin-Woodville finished 13 of 23 from the free-throw line and 16 of those attempts came in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers face Durand Tuesday in Ellsworth to begin regional playoff play.
