Cole Carroll’s 3-pointer at the buzzer snapped a four-game skid for Pepin-Alma Tuesday in a 50-47 win over Independence in Independence.
Carroll, who finished with 13 points, was the Eagles’ last look on a set play and he knocked down a 3 as time expired.
Charlie Raethke added 15 points and nine rebounds for Pepin-Alma (5-14, 4-9 Small Dairyland) and Jacob Lerum added seven points.
Carroll also had five assists and helped keep the Eagles in the game with his scoring and passing, head coach Loren Mueller said.
Pepin-Alma jumped out to a nine-point lead in the first quarter only to see Independence close it to a two-point lead at halftime. The Eagles went up by three to start the fourth quarter and battled back and forth with Independence for the lead in the final quarter.
Pepin-Alma will head to the Small Dairyland Conference playoffs Saturday to face Melrose-Mindoro. The Eagles play Royal Tuesday to start the postseason in Royal.
