Boys Basketball: Lourdes powers past Z-M

Rochester Lourdes’ duo of sophomore Jacob Schaefer and junior Mark Pagel lifted the Eagles to a 66-57 victory Tuesday over Zumbrota-Mazeppa in Zumbrota.

Schaefer and Pagel each scored 21 points and Pagel pulled down 10 rebounds for Lourdes (17-7, 7-5 HVL Gold) which shot 52 percent from the field and 60 percent on 2-point field goals.

Kevin Niebuhr led the Cougars (10-12, 6-6 HVL Blue) with 15 points and 14 rebounds while Nathaniel Rauen scored 13 and Lucas Ziemba added 10 points.

Z-M fell behind 32-26 at halftime.

The Cougars shot just 39 percent from the field and went 2 of 17 on 3-point attempts.

Devin Holtegaard added nine points and six rebounds for Z-M, which will face Winona Cotter Thursday in Winona.
