Mueller trial begins Tuesday

The court trial for Simon Christopher Mueller, who has been charged with criminal sexual conduct, began Tuesday morning. Mueller’s attorney Douglas Bayley and Assistant Goodhue County Attorney Erin Kuester both gave opening arguments with First District Judge Kevin Mark presiding.

Mueller, 27, of Red Wing, faces nine counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and five counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to a court complaint filed June 9, 2011, Mueller repeatedly molested two girls who were 3 and 5 years old at the time. The alleged incidents happened between May 2010 and April 2011, the complaint said. Both girls are related to Muller.

The trial is expected to last through this week.
