The Red Wing Area Senior Center is located in the Fairview Red Wing Professional Building and Community Center. All events listed are held at the Senior Center unless otherwise noted. Phone number is 651-267-3599.

Eye glass adjustments

Free eye glass adjustments will be provided by Pearle Vision from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Feb. 28. Services will be minor adjustments and repairs, cleaning and replacement of nose pads.

Typists available

Do you need something typed? A letter? Family story?

Experienced typists are willing to volunteer their services, if you give a donation to the Senior Center for the finished work. Simply bring in your hand-written correspondence. In a few days you can pick your typed work.

Group discuss Meyer book

Book Club for Women will meet at 10:30 a.m. Monday and discuss "No Fault of My Own" by Peg Meier, with facilitator Jane Whiteside. Make it your goal to read a new book and then join others for some friendly discussion. Everyone is invited to attend.

Granny blankets and needlework

Fleece is ready to be tied into granny blankets at 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday. Join in for great conversation while blankets are tied or bring your own needlework project to work on and share.

Trips, Travel and Tours – History Theater

Adapted from the diary of Clotilde Irvine, the play ”Through No fault of My Own” by Coco Irvine and Peg Meier will be the featured destination Thursday March 15 in St. Paul.

Irvine wrote hits one-year diary when she was 13. Young Clotilde “Coco” Irvine is the daughter of a lumber baron living in a fashionable Summit Avenue Mansion in 1927. Her diary is charming, funny and delightful entertainment.

Seniors will meet Meier at the play. Reservations due Thursday March 1. Cost is $57 members, $62 nonmembers. Price includes transportation, play and tour of the James Hill Mansion. Lunch on your own at Café Latte.

Play games

The following games will be played: 500 – 1 p.m. Monday Feb. 27; Fun Bridge - 10 a.m. Wednesdays; Scrabble - 1 p.m. Wednesdays.

Support services offered

Several support groups and services are available.

• Memory loss support group will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 28 at Deer Crest. Lucy Boxrud facilitates this support group, providing information and education on dementia. Call her at 651-267-5444.

• Foot care clinic is available 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays with a home health nurse. To schedule an appointment, call Fairview Red Wing Homecare and Hospice at 651-385-3410. The cost is $32.
