ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received at the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 315 West Fourth Street, Red Wing, Minnesota until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday the 15th day of March, 2012, at which time they will be publicly opened and read. After tabulation, bids will be presented to the City Council in the City Hall in Red Wing at their next regular meeting for the furnishing of all labor, tools, materials, equipment, and all else necessary for the construction of sidewalks and other appurtenant construction on Hallquist Avenue, Frenn Avenue, Eunice Avenue, Pine Ridge Boulevard, and Chickadee Court (Project No. 156-MP-12-04W) located in the City of Red Wing, Minnesota, consisting of the following approximate quantities:

38 Tree–Clearing

43 Tree–Grubbing

330 Square Feet–Remove Concrete Walk/Drive Pavement

320 Cubic Yards–Granular Borrow (LV)

701 Cubic Yards–Topsoil Borrow (LV)

61.20 Road Station–Subgrade Preparation – Sidewalk (P)

1,972 Square Feet–Modular Block Retaining Wall

25,015 Square Feet–4” & 6” Concrete Walk

1.1 Acre–Turf Establishment

All in accordance with plans and specifications on file at the City Engineering Department, 419 Bush Street, Red Wing, MN. Plans and Bidding Documents (proposal, special provisions, bid forms, and general instructions to bidders) may be examined at the Office of the City Engineer. Complete sets of Plans and Bidding Documents will be available for downloading on February 22, 2012 from the City of Red Wing website at http://www.red-wing.org and by clicking on the “Quick Links”, then click on “Project & Equipment Bids”, and then click on “Bid Documents” for QuestCDN Project #1865815. There is a nonrefundable fee of $20.00 for the electronic Plans and Bidding Documents. Registered plan holders with QuestCDN may obtain a 22”X34” color set of plans at City Engineering Department, 419 Bush Street, Red Wing, MN 55066 for a nonrefundable fee of $40.00 (please request 24 hours in advance).

Bids must be on the basis of cash payment for the work and material, and no bid will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk at City Hall, 315 West Fourth Street, Red Wing, MN, and accompanied by a cash deposit, certified check or bidder's bond payable to the City of Red Wing, for not less than five (5) percent of the bid, as a guarantee that the bidder will, if awarded the contract, enter promptly into an agreement with the City and furnish a bond for the full amount of the contract as provided by law. The deposit will be subject to forfeiture as provided by law.

Cash deposits, certified checks and bidder's bonds of the three lowest bidders may be retained until the contract has been awarded and executed, but no longer than thirty (30) days from the date of opening bids. All other deposits will be returned promptly.

The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality therein and to adjourn the meeting to a later date for the purpose of further consideration of the bids and taking action thereon. No bid may be withdrawn within thirty (30) days from the date of opening of bids.
