Kenyon-Wanamingo snapped Cannon Falls’ eight-game winning streak Friday night with a 58-52 victory over the Bombers in Kenyon.
The Knights (11-10, 6-6 HVL Blue) knocked off Cannon Falls, the HVL Blue champion, for the second time this season by getting 18 points from Peder Sviggum and 16 from Zach Quaale. Derek Greseth scored all 11 of his points in the second half as Kenyon-Wanamingo put 38 up points in the second half.
“We didn’t have the help defense that we needed from players tonight,” Bombers head coach Josh Davisson said.
Cedric Dicke scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds while Jordan Lundell scored 12 and Paul Rolfes added nine points.
Cannon Falls (18-6, 10-2 HVL Blue) shot 41 percent from the field and held the Knights to 38 percent.
The Bombers have set the number of points they want to hold an opponent under at 55 and when they accomplish that they have gone 18-0.
Cannon Falls led 23-20 at halftime, but too many offensive rebounds and second chance points hurt in the second half, Davisson said.
The Bombers face Winona Cotter Tuesday in Cannon Falls.
