Girls Basketball: Eagles falter in final minute to Eau Claire Immanuel

Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran’s Abbie Hein and Hannah Tiefel combined to score 31 of the Lancers 38 points Friday in a 38-35 victory over Pepin-Alma in Alma.

Tiefel hit a pair of free throws with four seconds left to seal the victory after the Eagles (12-5, 8-3 Small Dairyland) gave up back-to-back offensive rebounds off the front end of one-and-ones. Tiefel finished with 14 points and Hein added 17 to give Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran its 12th win in its last 13 games.

The Lancers (14-4, 8-3 Small Dairyland) pulled into a three-way tie for first place in the conference with Pepin-Alma and Independence.

The Eagles had won eight of its last nine games prior to Friday’s loss but never got a chance to tie it at the end.

Ali Murray led Pepin-Alma with 11 points while Sophia Reidt scored eight points. Katie Kujak added six points and Bre Ellison had five points.

The Eagles play Cochrane-Fountain City Thursday in Fountain City.
