Candle starts Wanamingo apartment fire

A candle started a fire in a bedroom of a Wanamingo apartment building Wednesday morning, the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Wanamingo Fire Department was called to Springcroft Apartments at 8:09. The candle had been left lit in one of the bedrooms and caused a small amount of damage to that room. The second floor of the apartment was evacuated.

Crews cleared the scene by 9 a.m. The Zumbrota Fire Department also assisted.
