The Pepin-Alma boys basketball team had a game-tying shot miss at the buzzer in a 56-53 loss to Cochrane-Fountain City Thursday in Pepin.

Junior Cole Carroll led the Eagles (4-14, 3-9 Dairyland-Small) with 20 points, including four 3-pointers, despite playing with the flu, Pepin-Alma head coach Loren Mueller said. The Eagles also played without leading scorer Charlie Raethke, a sophomore, because of the flu and had multiple other players dealing with sickness as well. Senior Jarod Schamaun finished with 10 points and six rebounds while freshman Sam Mueller scored 11 points and had two steals in the loss.

Parker Lyga scored 20 points to lead C-FC and Nick Pehler contributed 12 points. C-FC made 9 of 16 free throws.

Pepin-Alma went into halftime down 25-14 and trailed 38-28 at the end of the third quarter but hit six 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to trim the deficit.

The Eagles play at Independence Tuesday.
