Moscow Nights, an award-winning musical group from Russia, is a versatile trio of musicians. These classically trained artists are bringing their toe-tapping music to Cannon Falls Monday Feb. 27. Their program presents an authentic picture of Russian folk traditions and culture as well as humorous dances.

The performance promises to be an exhilarating and educational performance for audiences of all ages, organizers said. The program sponsored by the Cannon Falls Library and the Friends of the Cannon Falls Library.

Barn dancing

The Rush River Ramblers will play for the barn dance. No experience is necessary for a good time. An expert caller is on hand to teach steps to new and more seasoned dancers. All ages are welcome, singles and couples.

The first half of the evening features family dances suitable for children, with more advanced dances in the second half. The barn dances are a joint project of River Falls Community Arts Base and River Falls Parks and Recreation.

Mu Daiko, the state’s foremost taiko drumming ensemble, presents its 15th anniversary concert starring Hanayui from KODO, including the legendary Odaiko soloist Yoshikazu Fujimoto. North American guest artists Tiffany Tamaribuchi and Megan Chao Smith will also perform.

Sister Cities is having a fundraising dinner the evening of the show to support Sister Cities programs. An Asian dinner will be served at the St. James Hotel followed by the show at the Sheldon. Tickets to the dinner and show are $65 each.
