Presenter William Hoyt will show the movie “March of the Wooden Soldiers” at 1 p.m. Monday Feb. 20.
Photography class
Learn the basics of your digital camera at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 21 from instructors Tom and Judy Walsh. Bring your camera, manual and questions and get started on taking the photos you have always wanted to capture.
Computers available to use
The center has two computers with access to the Internet available for members to use anytime from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Seniors Helping Seniors
Seniors Helping Seniors volunteers are skilled and committed to helping other seniors who are experiencing distress in their lives. If you need someone to talk to or you know someone who does, contact Robin Wipperling at 651-385-3456.
Gentle Yoga for Seniors with chronic health conditions
Learn gentle yoga positions, start anytime with instructor Michelle Hoffman from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays at the Fairview Professional and Community Center, 1407 W. Third St. Cost for six sessions is $45. Try your first class for free.
Gentle chair yoga can provide many benefits for conditions like arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic pain and more. Call 651-267-3599 to register.
Trips, Travels and Tours – “Mamma Mia”
Enjoy a trip to the Orpheum Theatre Wednesday, April 25 to see the acclaimed musical “Mamma Mia!” The performance combines ABBA’s greatest hits, including “Dancing Queen,” “S.O.S.,” “Super Trouper,” “Take A Chance on Me” and “The Winner Takes It All,” with a tale of love, laughter and friendship. Cost is $74 members, $79 nonmembers. Reservations due Monday March 26.
Cards and games
The following games will be played: Euchre - 1 p.m. Monday Feb. 20; 500 – 1 p.m. Monday Feb. 27; Fun Bridge - 10 a.m. Wednesdays; Scrabble - 1 p.m. Wednesdays.
Support services offered
Several support groups and services are available.
• American Lung Association’s Better Breathers Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 22. The group supports adults with chronic lung diseases, their family members, friends and caregivers.
• Foot care clinic will be available Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. with a home health nurse. To schedule an appointment, call Fairview Red Wing Homecare and Hospice at 651-385-3410. The cost is $32.
• Resources and Referrals will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 22. Jane Whiteside can help you sort through problems and explore possible resources. Free and confidential service.
